80 degrees feels much better than 90...

I've decided that I've had my fill of traveling while pregnant. We've done quite a bit of it this summer and my cankles and I are done. I always feel like I have nothing to blog about, so I thought I'd write about our travels a bit. Here's a little summary of our most recent trip while it's fresh in my mind, I'll have to catch up on the others later...

We flew to Portland Friday morning. My former mission companion/current friend, Angie, was married in the Portland temple on Saturday, which was the reason for our trip. My Uncle Mike and Aunt Karen live in Seattle, so we thought we'd visit them as well while we were so close. We rented a car in Portland and headed straight to Seattle. Mike showed us around Seattle for a couple hours while Karen was working. It's such a beautiful place. It reminded me a bit of Halifax, only it's about 100 times bigger.... We hiked up several steep hills and if we hadn't been at sea level, I may not have survived. The weather there was perfect, I think the high was about 82. It felt lovely. We went to the fish market, which was awesome. It made my mouth water to look at all the fresh seafood everywhere.
The matching was unintentional...
After the fish market, we picked Karen up from work and went to the Locks, which was also very cool. They have built a sort of ladder over a dam so that salmon can climb over it and get up the river to spawn. They have viewing windows where you can see the salmon swimming up the steps and I have never seen bigger salmon before. Granted, I have not seen many salmon in my life, but they were really big.
This is us on top of the dam.
After the locks they took us out to dinner at an amazing Italian restaurant. It was great to spend time with them. We stayed with them that night and they even made us breakfast before we headed back to Portland in the morning.
They were such great hosts and we had so much fun with them.
Saturday, after fighting our way back through traffic, we met up with Angie and Jake at the temple. Their sealing was beautiful and Portland temple is incredible. It's huge and it looks so majestic with it's spires, and all of the many trees surrounding it. I only got one good picture of the happy couple and it's not even that awesome... Lucky she's not depending on me for her wedding photos.
She looked gorgeous and Jake looked nice too :)
After the sealing, there was a dinner and it was nice to get to know some of Angie's family a bit better. Overall it was just a great day and I was so glad we could be there with them.

Me and the bride.
We didn't fly home until Sunday night, so we had Sunday to explore Portland a bit. We drove along the Columbia River and enjoyed the view. We had some awesome Indian food downtown for all of $6. Yes. We went to the largest independently owned new and used bookstore in the world. It was enormous and I loved it. On the way to the airport, we found an estate sale. We had never been to one before so we stopped. It was really interesting and I think I may have to pay attention and find any estate sales going on around here.We got to the airport way too early, because I was paranoid about getting stuck in traffic or having problems returning the rental car. Our flight was quite uneventful and we made it home about 10:30 last night. Despite the dehydration and cankles, we really had a great trip.

In other news: I am in my third trimester as of yesterday. We're almost there. In the next three months we have lots to prepare. While staying close to home.

24 weeks and counting...

Jonie, my older sister, is also pregnant and exactly one month ahead of me. She's due on her anniversary, October 20. I'm due on my anniversary, November 20. Crazy. We have been taking pictures to send to Jessie, our missionary sister, to keep her updated on belly size. I thought some of you might like to see our most recent pictures.

Last Saturday

You wouldn't know Anders is related to us based on skin tone...

I love having one of my best friends going through the same thing I am. It's a lot of fun. I also love that our girls will be so close in age. I hope they are great friends too. Anyway, the pictures are evidence that I am showing. I am finally having people I don't know well ask me if I'm pregnant or when I'm due. I get a lot of "You don't even look pregnant!" from people who know that I am. I feel pregnant and I am pregnant, so I'm ready to look it.
